History (page being updated)
In 1999, a local group got together with the aim of putting together a pantomime to raise funds for the Parish Church's Millenium appeal. The pantomime, Aladdin, was staged in January 2001 in Shiplake College's Tithe Barn and proved so successful the group formally established SHADDO (Shiplake and Dunsden Dramatic Organisation) and decided to produce another pantomime, this time in the Shiplake Memorial Hall. The proceeds were ploughed back into the Hall, successfully restoring a local theatre to the village, following the disbanding of Shiplake Players in the 1980’s.
We have acquired a reputation for the shows and pantomimes we’ve performed for over twenty-five years. We typically start Panto rehearsals in October and the shows take place over three days at the end of January each year. We also put on other shows from time to time, typically short plays, comedy sketches or variety acts. We welcome anyone from Shiplake or the surrounding area.
